The durum wheat variety Vero underwent testing within European breeding programs in 1993–1994. In publications from that period, it was described as a promising variety possessing advantages in yield.

Key quality characteristics of the variety are a high protein content indicator, as well as good color parameters of the semolina produced from its grain. The variety name is found in official European Union agricultural plant catalogs.
