10 August 2026
The variety was obtained as a result of crossing the lines Linea D 50 and Trigo Candeal. It is traditionally intended for processing into pasta flour and semolina production. The variety is often mentioned in scientific publications as a subject of research into the genetic diversity of Italian durum wheat varieties.
During studies on susceptibility to Fusarium head blight caused by Fusarium graminearum, the variety Plinio was classified as very susceptible to this disease. Specific quantitative indicators of grain quality, maturity group, or vegetation characteristics are not provided in the publications.
