The variety belongs to the species Triticum durum Desf. and is often used as reference material in breeding, including CIMMYT programs and European research on organic farming. In Croatian breeding practice, it is known by the code Bc TD3201/92.

A key economic characteristic of the variety is high resistance to the granary weevil (Sitophilus granarius). Technological studies note that the variety is characterized by a small grain size. Morphological traits include the presence of anthocyanin coloration of the first leaf.
