The variety is a hybrid of Vitis berlandieri (clone Rességuier No. 2) and Vitis rupestris (clone Lot). It is exclusively a rootstock variety intended for grafting wine grape varieties in order to increase their resistance to adverse soil conditions and pests. The variety has vigorous growth and stimulates scion development.

It possesses high resistance to the root form of phylloxera, drought conditions, and saline soils. It is distinguished by very high resistance to active lime (chlorosis-resistant) and is not affected by downy mildew and powdery mildew. The tip of the young shoot is reddish-green and pubescent. Leaves are small or medium, kidney-shaped, entire or slightly three-lobed, dark green. The flower is functionally male.
