Variety description

The vines of the variety are characterized by medium vigor and good cane maturation. The leaves are large or medium, rounded, five-lobed, with a smooth underside. Bunches are very large, conical, often winged, weighing 400–600 g or more, with large rounded berries. The flower type is hermaphroditic.

The variety is mid-late, prone to early bud break, which makes it sensitive to spring frosts. It possesses relative resistance to powdery mildew and phylloxera, however, it shows susceptibility to downy mildew, gray rot, Phomopsis, and mite infestations.

Aramon is a high-yielding variety, which, with an abundant harvest, results in light and low-extract wines. The use of the variety is primarily for processing, often in blends to increase production volumes. Rare mutations with white and gray berries exist.
