Variety description

The variety has good vigor and perfect flowers. Leaves are rounded, entire or three-lobed, with shallow sinuses and a bronze tint on young leaves. Clusters are small and compact, and berries have an ellipsoid shape.

Due to the density of the clusters, the variety is susceptible to Botrytis cinerea, and is also sensitive to downy mildew, black rot, and powdery mildew. Historically, it was often confused with the Cabernet Franc, Fer, and Manseng noir varieties; it is currently found primarily as part of mixed plantings in old vineyards.
