Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is autochthonous to the Valais region in Switzerland. Genetically, the variety is considered distinct, having no direct kinship with other known varieties. The letter "B" in the designation indicates the white color of the berries, and the definition "Petite" characterizes their small size.

The vines have medium vigor and require mandatory tying due to the fragility of the shoots. The variety is sensitive to drought and herbicide exposure, prefers calcareous and chalky soils, and requires sunny sites for ripening.

Bunches are medium-sized, elongated, and dense with a wing. Berries are round in shape and often have sun tan. The variety is used to create dry and dessert wines possessing aromas of citrus, stone fruits, and flowers, as well as a characteristic "salty" note in the aftertaste.
