The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera L. and is characterized by late bud break, which increases its resistance to spring frosts. The plant is vigorous, productive, and exhibits a certain resistance to phylloxera, downy mildew, and powdery mildew, which is due to the characteristics of the leaf pubescence.

Bunches are medium-sized, conical, medium-dense or dense. Berries are small, round, dark blue with a waxy bloom and skin of medium thickness. The juicy pulp has a varietal flavor.

The grapes are used for creating red and rosé wines, often as part of blends. The wines are distinguished by moderate color, soft tannins, moderate acidity, and high alcohol content, with a possible slight bitter aftertaste. The variety is known by a number of synonyms, including Moustardier, Carcaghjolu, and Quenoise.
