Aspiran noir is an ancient grape variety from the Languedoc region, France. The vines are characterized by medium vigor, and buds break late, which reduces the risk of damage from spring frosts. The variety has color mutations: Aspiran blanc and Aspiran gris.

Bunches are medium-sized, conical in shape, winged, and loose. Berries are medium-sized, egg-shaped or oval, black in color with bloom and thin, fragile skin. The variety is not resistant to frost and major fungal diseases, prefers stony, well-warmed soils, and has low yield.

Wine from this variety is distinguished by a fruity bouquet, low color intensity, and pronounced acidity, yet it does not possess the ability for long-term aging. The variety should be distinguished from Aspiran Bouschet, which is a teinturier variety.
