The variety is a hybrid of Glera and Solaris, bred for the wine industry. The name of the variety is formed by combining the words Glera and the Latin Aurum (gold).

The grape possesses high polygenic resistance to major fungal diseases, in particular to downy mildew and powdery mildew. This property makes it suitable for environmentally sustainable viticulture, allowing for the minimization of chemical treatment of vineyards.

The variety is intended for wine production and can be used in blends with a share of 15% to 40%. At present, the variety is undergoing stages of implementation and resolution of regulatory issues related to the rules for the production of wines with a protected geographical indication.
