The variety belongs to the mid-ripening period; harvesting usually takes place in mid-September. The vines are characterized by vigorous growth and low maintenance. The berries are white, round, medium to large in size, with thin skin and juicy pulp of neutral taste.

The plant possesses very high drought tolerance, while resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew is rated as weak. Traditionally, the variety is grown in a goblet or low-bush form. It has been cultivated in Spain since the 15th century and is the result of a cross with the Hebén variety.

The purpose of the variety is for wine production. It is used for the production of brandy, distillates, and fresh table wines, including in blends to soften more intense varieties.
