The variety is classified as medium-early or medium-late, with harvest in German conditions occurring in the first half of October. The vine is characterized by strong growth, medium-sized clusters with a loose structure, and small to medium berries of dark blue color. Yielding is consistent, typically two clusters per shoot.

The plant possesses high resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold. The variety exhibits good tolerance to drought periods on light soils and is used in organic viticulture.

Wines made from Laurot grapes are characterized as full-bodied, with deep color and a soft tannin structure. The flavor and aroma profile includes notes of blueberry, cherry, plum, and wild berries, which aligns their characteristics with those of the Merlot and St. Laurent varieties.
