Legiruela is an autochthonous variety; genetic studies have confirmed its identity with the Italian variety Prié blanc, also known as Agostenga. The variety is considered a landrace and has historically been present both in the Italian region of Aosta Valley and in the Spanish province of Avila.

This variety is a wine grape used in winemaking. Its name Agostenga, derived from the Italian word for "August," indicates the early ripening of the fruit. The variety possesses high adaptability to local growing conditions, though detailed indicators of disease resistance are absent from open sources.
