Variety description

The variety is autochthonous to the Piedmont region and represents a historical form that has undergone natural selection. It is genetically unstable and prone to mutations, due to which there are many clones, including Lampia, Michet, and Rose Nebbiolo.

The vine is of medium vigor with bisexual flowers. The leaf is medium-sized, round or wedge-shaped, deeply lobed, with dense bristly-woolly pubescence on the underside. The bunch is medium-sized, elongated-conical or cylindrical-conical in shape, and medium-dense. The berry is medium-sized, round, and black with a thick waxy bloom.

The variety is demanding of growing conditions, requires well-lit sites, and reveals its qualities best on southern slopes. It is characterized by a late ripening period and high sensitivity to terroir.
