The variety is a native of the Fronton region. Mature leaves are dark green, round, five-lobed or entire, with a shiny, blistered surface. Bunches are small, berries are small or medium-sized, round or oval in shape, dark blue or black in color.

The variety is of medium ripening period with late bud break. It is characterized by high sensitivity to Botrytis cinerea, powdery mildew, and pests, and requires mandatory tying due to its tendency to shatter. It shows the best results on gravelly, sandy, and sandy-loam soils with short pruning.

Wines from this variety possess intense color, low tannin and acid content, and have a distinct aroma of violet, red berries, and spices. The variety is intended for consumption at a young age and has limited aging potential.
