10 August 2026
A mid-late ripening variety with an upright growth habit. The leaves are large, five-lobed. The clusters are medium to large, dense, conical or truncated-conical in shape. The berries are black-purple in color, oval, covered with a thick bloom, and have thick skin.
The plant is well-adapted to hot, dry climates and arid conditions, preferring clay and calcareous soils. It possesses resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but can be susceptible to gray mold in rainy weather.
The purpose of the variety is exclusively winemaking. The wines are characterized by a deep dark color, high tannin and alcohol content, as well as pronounced aromas of dark berries and spices. The variety is often used in blends to add structure and longevity to wines.
