The variety is a complex interspecific hybrid obtained from the cross (Saint Laurent × Blauer Portugieser) × Alibernet (Odessa Black). Bushes have medium vigor, leaves are deeply dissected, five-to-seven-lobed, often turning red in autumn. The flower is hermaphroditic.

Clusters are medium-sized, cylindro-conical, of medium density. Berries are small or medium, round, blue-black with a waxy bloom. It belongs to the group of teinturier varieties: the skin, pulp, and berry juice are colored.

The variety is moderately resistant to downy mildew and powdery mildew, and is well resistant to gray mold. Winter hardiness is medium; the vine matures early. Wines from this variety are distinguished by a deep color and aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, spices, and tobacco, and are often used in blends.
