Sheegene-20
ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine
TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The variety is a hybrid of the Sylvaner and Chasselas varieties. It is intended for the production of white wines, including sparkling ones, and is characterized by the ability to accumulate a high level of sugar content while maintaining high acidity. The wines are distinguished by a fruity aroma with notes of peach or mirabelle.
The plant is demanding regarding growing conditions, requires a warm climate, and has low resistance to winter frosts. Agrotechnical features include irregular bud break, active formation of lateral shoots, and the formation of tough, lignified tendrils, which complicates manual pruning. It is currently grown primarily in the Markgräflerland region.
