A medium to medium-late ripening variety with late budburst. The vines are characterized by high vigor and semi-erect shoots, which are sensitive to wind. Due to the high density of the clusters, the variety is susceptible to Botrytis cinerea and Phomopsis viticola.

Clusters are medium-sized, conical, and winged. Berries are small or medium, round, dark blue in color with a thick bloom, and have juicy flesh. Short peduncles make manual harvesting difficult. The variety has moderate yield.

Wines made from this variety are characterized by intense color with moderate tannin and alcohol content, as well as a harmonious fruity taste. The variety is traditionally used in the Vins d'Estaing and Entraygues-et-Le-Fel appellations.
