The RATIÑO variety (also known as Ratiño Gallega, Blanca de Cabanelas, or Cajarrento) is an ancient century-old variety. The mature leaf is pentagonal in shape with three lobes and an open V-shaped petiolar sinus. The compact cylindrical cluster with a "wing" contains more than 200 berries. The berries are uniform, spherical or elliptical in shape, yellow-green in color with unpigmented juicy pulp.

Wines from this variety possess good acidity, minerality, structure, and herbaceous-balsamic notes with honey undertones. The variety shows moderate resistance to downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola). The variety is not a product of breeding crosses, but represents a recovered ancient genotype.
