The variety originates from the Cévennes region and is the result of a natural cross between the varieties Ribier noir and Grec rouge. The vine possesses high vigor with semi-erect or erect shoots; short pruning is permissible during cultivation.

Bunches are medium-sized and dense. Berries are medium or large, round, covered with a waxy bloom, have moderately thick skin and juicy firm pulp with a simple flavor. Wine from this variety is characterized by low acidity and aromas of honey and quince.

The variety is sensitive to downy mildew, while exhibiting higher resistance to powdery mildew. It belongs to ancient local varieties and is actively being studied in the context of preserving genetic diversity.
