The variety is a vigorous and strong-growing plant. It has early ripening dates, and the berries and clusters are small in size. Young shoots are characterized by high density of pubescence, young leaves are green with bronze spots, and mature leaves can be either entire or five-lobed. The plant is noted for its fertility and allows for the use of both long and short pruning.

The wine variety is primarily cultivated in the Yonne and Allier departments, where it is also known by the name Tressalier. Wines made from it are fresh, with low acidity and low alcohol content; the aromatics contain notes of white flowers, pear, and green apples.
