Variety description

The variety is the result of clone selection initiated in 1962 in the city of Eger. Clone E.153 was selected to improve the characteristics of the original variety. This is a wine grape variety intended for the production of red wines.

The plant exhibits vigorous growth; long pruning is recommended. It belongs to late-ripening varieties, with harvest occurring in early October. Yield is 30–40% higher than the base variety.

Clusters are small, weighing 65–120 g, loose or medium-dense. Berries are small, round, dark blue in color with thick skin and a waxy coating. Wine from this variety requires aging of 2 to 3 years.
