The variety is a natural color variation of the Cayetana Blanca variety. Its distribution is concentrated in Spain and Portugal. The literature emphasizes the need to distinguish this variety from other forms with similar names, such as Jaén Blanco, Jaén Tinto, and Mencía.
Agronomic characteristics of the variety are virtually undescribed, as it is considered a genetic variant of the original variety. In scientific works, it is mentioned in the context of evaluating sensitivity to powdery mildew. It is traditionally used in blends as a local variety for winemaking.
