The variety is considered extremely ancient and likely originates from the region of modern Moldova, from where it spread across Europe in the pre-phylloxera period. It is traditionally used as a table grape for fresh consumption. Given its wide geographical distribution, the variety is known by numerous synonyms, including Coarna alba, Pizzutello bianco, Tetta di Vacca, and Pukhlyakovsky.
The berries have a characteristic elongated, pointed shape resembling a nipple, and their color is most often greenish-white or yellowish. Like many old autochthonous varieties, this grape does not possess high complex resistance to phylloxera and common fungal diseases, requiring standard protective measures. Currently, in some regions of Europe, it is recognized as rare and subject to conservation as part of genetic heritage.
