The stem nodes of Impatiens walleriana contain a large number of meristematic cells, which ensures the formation of a root system within 7–10 days at a temperature of 20–25°C. Due to the high moisture content in the succulent stems, the plant requires care when selecting a substrate to prevent rotting; however, it does not require conditions of high humidity under film or a cloche.

For cuttings, apical shoots 8–10 cm long are selected; lower leaves and all flower buds, which hinder root formation, are removed from them. Large leaf blades at the tip may be trimmed by half to reduce transpiration. Rooting is possible both in water and in loose substrates such as sand or agroperlite, provided that a moderate watering regime is maintained.
