Tomato Fusarium wilt

Solanum lycopersicum L. var. lycopersicum

Tomato Fusarium wilt is a tracheomycosis characterized by wilting, caused by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici, which leads to vascular system damage, chlorosis, and plant death. The disease may also manifest as root and crown rot caused by the pathogen FORL.

In the reference 118 varieties crop Tomato, where this is mentioned in the description.

The causal agent is divided into three physiological races, the third of which poses the greatest threat, overcoming the resistance provided by classic I and I-2 genes. When the vascular system is infected by the fungus, metabolism is disrupted, leading to gradual wilting: first, the lower leaves turn yellow and dry out, then the process spreads to the top of the plant. A key diagnostic feature is the reddish-brown discoloration of the vascular bundles inside the stem.

In tomato breeding, resistance genes I, I-2, and I-3 are used to provide protection against the corresponding pathogen races. In international classification, the resistance of varieties and hybrids is denoted by the code Fol for Fusarium wilt and For for Fusarium root rot, with the plant resistance level specified as HR or IR.
