For hyacinth pot culture, large bulbs with a circumference of 16/17 to 19+ cm are used, as they ensure the formation of a dense inflorescence. The planting material must undergo a regulated cooling period at a temperature of +5...+9 °C, which simulates natural conditions and is necessary for the high-quality development of the flower stalk.

The technology allows for dense planting of bulbs in the pot, while plant development is primarily supported by the internal nutrient reserves of the bulb itself. During the forcing process, it is important to avoid moisture directly on the bulb to prevent rotting, and to ensure vertical growth of the flower stalk, the plant is moved to a cool, bright place with a temperature of +15...+20 °C once shoots reach a height of 8–10 cm.
