This trait is evaluated using the cold germination method, which includes an analysis of laboratory germination rates, seedling morphometry, and biochemical indicators, such as free proline content.
This characteristic allows for sowing 10–15 days earlier than usual, which ensures faster emergence by 5–7 days and more efficient use of spring moisture reserves. Cold tolerance is not synonymous with frost resistance; therefore, at temperatures below -3…-4 °С, irreversible tissue damage occurs regardless of the hybrid's level of tolerance.
