Planting depth varies from 10–13 cm in heavy soils to 20–26 cm in light soils. The use of fresh manure is strictly prohibited, and organic matter should be applied one year prior to bulb planting.

Narcissus plants can maintain productivity in the same location for up to 4–5 years. A critical aspect of agrotechnology is maintaining soil moisture after flowering, during the leaf yellowing period, when the buds for the following year are set. Unlike many bulbous plants, Narcissus has natural protection against rodents due to the presence of the alkaloid lycorine; however, they require monitoring for specific pests, such as the Narcissus fly and the large Narcissus bulb fly.
