The narcissus bulb is a perennial structure, which distinguishes it from the annually renewing bulbs of other bulbous crops. It includes a basal plate and 9 to 17 storage scales. In professional floriculture, the material is classified by grades: Extra and I grades are characterized by their large size and are often multi-nosed, providing multiple flower stalks, whereas II and III grades represent smaller or single-nosed specimens.

Key indicators for selection and quality assessment include diameter (from 10–12 to 18 cm), shape, and the number of noses. The biological propagation coefficient of the crop averages 1:4. Flowering potential is directly dependent on bulb size: large fractions provide earlier and more abundant flowering, while offsets require a grow-out period.

Agrotechnical standards are based on the morphological characteristics of the bulb: the planting depth is equal to three times its height. Due to the perennial nature of the renewal buds, which are formed annually, replanting is recommended at intervals of 3–5 years, as overly frequent lifting and division of the bulb cluster can negatively affect plant development.
