In cultivated Narcissus varieties and species, the flower diameter varies from 2 to 12.5 cm. Small-flowered forms include plants with a diameter of 2–5 cm, while large-flowered varieties are considered to be those with a flower size approaching or exceeding 10 cm.

This trait is dynamic and depends on agronomic practices. In crowded plantings, in the absence of bulb cluster division for 4–5 years, and during early forcing, the flower diameter tends to decrease. Bulb size directly affects this indicator: the use of 'Extra' and first-grade planting material ensures the formation of a flower that maximally corresponds to varietal characteristics.

In breeding and variety testing, this parameter is used to identify a cultivar and evaluate its ornamental value. In certain groups of Narcissus, an inverse correlation between flower size and scape height is observed, which is taken into account when selecting a variety for commercial cut flower production and landscaping.
