When growing eggplant in open fields, the thermal regime is a critical factor. Growth and pollination are suspended at temperatures below +20 °C, and root activity ceases when the soil cools below +18 °C, which necessitates planting only in well-warmed soil. The crop requires protection from drafts and cold winds using windbreaks or covers, as it is less stress-tolerant than other solanaceous crops.

Eggplant agronomy involves maintaining the soil ball during planting due to weak root system regeneration and the formation of a deep cultivated soil layer of up to 40 cm. Irrigation must be differentiated: moisture is maintained at a level of 70% of field capacity during the growth period and increased to 80% of field capacity during fruiting to prevent fruit deformation. In crop rotation, isolation from other solanaceous crops for up to 5 years is required for the prevention of Fusarium wilt.
