Barley Vigor

Hordeum vulgare L.

An indicator of barley seed quality that determines the ability of seeds to form uniform seedlings under field conditions; it is more accurate than laboratory germination.

Low vigor in barley cultivation leads to sparse crop stands, prolonged tillering, and uneven plant ripening. High vigor ensures the rapid formation of the root system and leaf area, which increases resistance to soil-borne pathogens and contributes to higher final yields.
