Sugar content

Sugar content is an indicator of the concentration of natural sugars in fruits or root crops, determining nutritional value and suitability for processing. This genetic trait is measured in degrees Brix (°Brix) or sugar degrees (°Z) and is critical for assessing variety quality.

Sugar content characterizes the concentration of glucose, fructose, and sucrose in plant tissues.
