At the first cut of reed canary grass, the dry matter content in the green mass is about 25.1–25.6%. Dry matter yield varies widely from 2.0–2.3 to 13–14 tons per hectare, with 4–10 tons per hectare considered typical for the crop depending on agrotechnical conditions and the mowing regime.
