The variety is a forage crop with a thick fleshy stem and a high leaf content. It is used for feeding dairy cattle, as a green manure for improving soil structure, and as a cover plant for wild animals.
The plant possesses resistance to clubroot and is capable of withstanding frosts down to -10...-12 °C, maintaining an upright position under snow cover. The variety is demanding of soil nutrition and develops best on calcareous loams with sufficient moisture. Sowing periods cover the time from April to August; harvesting is possible from July to January.
