The variety is a sturdy bushy shrub 30–60 cm tall with light green foliage. It belongs to the category of bud-blooming heathers, whose inflorescences do not open fully, which protects them from rain, fog, and frost. The variety «Pink Bettina» is a mutation of the original plant and is distinguished by pink buds and grey-green foliage color.
Flowering begins in August or September and continues until November-December. The plant is characterized by winter hardiness corresponding to USDA zones 4–7 and resistance to diseases. Planting requires sunny locations or partial shade with acidic, well-drained sandy or peat soils with no waterlogging.
