The variety is an evergreen shrub 15–40 cm tall with dense thin shoots and small dark green scale-like leaves. The plant has strong upright stems and is not prone to lodging.
The flowers are bright red or cherry-red, gathered in dense raceme inflorescences. The variety is bud-blooming: the buds do not open fully, which allows them to retain their color from mid-August to November. The inflorescences are resistant to rain, fog, and frost.
The plant is frost-hardy down to -23 °C. Annual pruning in the spring period is required to maintain the shape and rejuvenate the shrub. The variety is suitable for use in landscape design, rock gardens, and container gardening.
