The Santimango variety, also known as Santomango, Montemarano or Marrone di Avellino, is a traditional local chestnut, the cultivation of which began in the XI–XII centuries. It is included in the category of products with the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Marrone di Serino.

The fruit are characterized by a rounded shape and a medium or large size. Harvesting is carried out in the period from September 25 to November 5. The trees are grown on non-calcareous volcanic soils with high humidity and require pruning at least once every five years.

Produce of the variety is sold in fresh, dried or peeled form.
