The variety is autochthonous to the Piedmont region and is maintained through in-situ conservation methods. It is officially included in the list of varieties whose fruits can be labeled as Castagna Cuneo IGP.

It belongs to early or mid-early varieties with a ripening period from September 25 to October 5. On the fruit size scale, the variety has a minimum rating.
