The Roja tree has vigorous growth, dense branching, and an upright crown. The trunk and branches are smooth; the foliage is dense and dark green. The plant is predominantly female, although mentions of a hermaphroditic Roja d'Eivissa genotype exist.
The fruits are curved reddish pods with a smooth surface, measuring 17–20 cm in length, about 2 cm in width, and about 0.9 cm in thickness. Productivity is characterized by medium pulp content and a seed yield of about 10–11%. The variety is distinguished by a low oleic acid content in its fatty acid composition and minimal pulp acidity.
