Variety description

The variety is the result of crossing the Covey and Forest Pansy varieties. The crown is weeping and requires training. The leaves are heart-shaped, deep purple when they unfurl, and turn green by the end of the season.

Flowering occurs in the spring in April–May; papilionaceous flowers form on the trunk and old branches. The plant has winter hardiness in zones 5–6 and withstands frosts down to -24…-28°C.

Prefers sunny locations protected from wind and well-drained soils. It does not tolerate waterlogging and handles transplanting poorly. It may be affected by Verticillium wilt, leaf spot, powdery mildew, and necrosis.
