The variety is a compact tree about 4.5–6 meters tall. The growth habit is upright, with branches having a slight tendency to weep. Flowering occurs in early spring before the leaves emerge; the flowers are small, bright pink, and appear on bare branches and trunks.
The plant prefers full sun or partial shade, well-drained moist soils of medium fertility, and tolerates pH up to 7.5. Winter hardiness corresponds to USDA zones 5–9. It is recommended as an accent plant for landscape design, small gardens, and container cultivation.
