The Solkanski regut variety is an autochthonous Slovenian variety traditionally grown in the vicinity of Solkan. The plant belongs to the Witloof salad chicory group and forms leaf rosettes that resemble a rose in shape.
The variety is characterized as late-maturing and possesses high winter hardiness, allowing it to overwinter in open field conditions. The leaves of the variety are distinguished by a pleasant taste without bitterness. It is intended for fresh consumption, early spring harvesting, pickling, and winter forcing.
