The DAHONG variety (also known as Dahong Cheng) is a locally important group of Chinese sweet orange cultivars. Genetic studies classify it as one of the ancient citrus lineages formed during the process of variety diversification in the region.
The fruit of this variety is characterized by pronounced sweetness and high eating quality. During post-harvest storage, cases of infection with the fungus Fusarium lateritium have been recorded, which causes post-harvest fruit rot and requires adherence to specific conditions during transportation and storage.
