Variety description

10 August 2026

The Miyagawa variety is a mutation of the Zairai cultivar selected in Japan. The plant is characterized as a small tree or shrub with slow growth and a compact crown. The leaves are lanceolate, narrowing toward the petiole, and are dark green in color.

Fruits of this variety have a spherical, sometimes slightly flattened shape. They are covered by a thin, smooth skin that separates easily from the flesh. The flesh consists of 8–10 segments and is characterized by high juiciness, low acid content, and a balanced sweet taste. The fruits are predominantly seedless and are capable of remaining on the branches for a long time after ripening.

Miyagawa belongs to early-maturing varieties: under optimal conditions, the harvest is collected in September–October. The variety demonstrates relative resistance to low temperatures and is successfully grown both on an industrial scale and as a container crop in domestic conditions due to its ornamental value and hardiness.
