The variety is characterized by moderate or slow growth. In the open field, the tree reaches 2–3 meters, while growth in containers is limited to 1–1.5 meters. The crown is compact or spreading, the branches are drooping and contain very few thorns. Due to the abundance of the crop, the branches may bend downwards.
The variety belongs to the mid-late group; fruits ripen from October to December. They have a flattened-globular shape, and the peel is thin and easily separated from the flesh. The flesh is juicy and sweet. Plants of the Satsuma group possess high cold hardiness for citrus and are capable of withstanding frosts down to –7...–11 °C.
