The variety is the result of selective breeding of the Femminello Comune population and has been cultivated in the Rocca Imperiale area for over 500 years. The tree is highly productive with three main fruiting periods: Primofiore, Maiolino (May–July), and Verdello (August–October).

Fruits weighing 100–160 g have an elongated shape and a peel color ranging from light green to bright yellow. A high content of essential oils gives them an intense aroma. The light yellow pulp is practically seedless, and the juice yield exceeds 30%; the juice is characterized by a balanced taste without bitterness.

The plant is well adapted to the microclimate of Calabria and Basilicata. To maintain quality and phytosanitary purity, health certification of planting material is applied. The fruits have good transportability and shelf life.
