The variety is a local cultivar historically divided into two types: Lustrino, with a thin smooth rind and weighing up to 80 g, and Fusillo, with a medium-thickness rind and weighing from 100 g. Fruits of both types have a slightly asymmetrical oval shape, an intense aroma, and juicy flesh with a balance of acidity and sweetness.

Plants are characterized by high productivity and the ability to bloom up to five times per year. Traditionally, trees are grafted onto bitter orange rootstock. The variety is versatile in use; the fruits are valued for their high-quality essential oils and aromatic properties, being used in cooking for the preparation of drinks, desserts, and as a food ingredient.
